History

After the formation of Telangana State (TS) in June 2014, an idea was floated among the physicians’ community of the state to have a separate chapter for API. After a marathon of discussions, it was decided to take forward the process of forming the API Telangana State (API TS) Chapter.

A resolution was passed in the general body meeting of AP API conference held in Kakinada after discussing with our colleagues from AP, to formally start the process. A two member committee was formed with Dr. Y.S.N. Raju and Dr. Naval Chandra as members to distribute whatever the meagre assets we have in the ratio of 52:48.

An ad hoc committee was formed with Dr. Rama Krishna Reddy as chairman and Dr. Nagendar Devulapally as secretary, Dr. M. Raja Rao as treasurer, Dr. B.THRILOK CHANDER and other members as executives. An inaugural ceremony was held at Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad with the then Hon. health minister as chief guest.

In January 2016,  the two chapters became official by a resolution passed in Tirupati general body meeting, i.e., AP API and Telangana API (API TS). Subsequently, elections were held in Hyderabad. Dr. K Shankar, Dr. Nagendar Devulapally, Dr. M. Raja Rao, and Dr. Thrilok Chander were elected as Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Treasurer, and Joint Secretary respectively, along with other executive members.

Since then, there has been no looking back. Twelve district chapters were formed from the erstwhile combined districts. Eight state conferences have been organized, including one South Zone Conference that featured over 100 speakers and more than 1000 delegates. API TS was at the forefront of initiating the South Zone Chapter under the guidance of our mentor, Dr. G. Narasimulu. Several of our members -- Dr. Y.S.N. Raju, Dr. Naval Chandra, Dr. Udailal, Dr. Pavan Kumar -- have gone on to serve as national API executives in various positions. Finally, our guide and mentor, Dr. G. Narasimulu was elected as the National President of API.

Presentlyin 2025 , under the chairmanship of  Dr. VinayaShekar, Chairman Elect Dr. M. Raja Rao, Hon. Secretary Dr. Thrilok Chander, and Treasurer Dr. Krishna  Prabhakar, the association is going strong with cooperation of all executive members.

The ninth state conference is going to be held in Karimnagarin oct 11 th & 12 th October, under the chairmanship of Dr. D. C. Tirupathy Rao and Org. Secretary Dr. Vijay Mohan Reddy, Treasurer Dr. Chaitanya, Hon. Secretary of district Dr. Venkateshwarlu, and Dr. Raghu Raman and other active members’ participation.

Past Chairman Dr. K. Shankar, Dr. P. Gandaiah, Dr. D. C. Tirupathy Rao, Dr. V. Chandra Shekar, Dr. Nagendar Devulapally, Dr. K. Ramesh have contributed a lot for the association developmentduring their respective term.
